Where Genetics Make The Difference
And Size Matters

MALAKING LALAKI aka Big Boy, RR, 350+ lb
Rams represent 50% of your genetics, the cornerstone of any successful sheep enterprise, and the ultimate standard is performance. It's been said, "If it's in the ram it's in the lamb." So there's no reason to utilize just 'average' genetics when selecting a ram. We at Buhok-Tupa Farm pride ourselves on consistently offering higher quality rams. Our flock are the grandsons and granddaughters of top producing Katahdin linage with names like Goliath (2000 Canadian Western Agribition Grand Champion Ram, BTS 445H), Sampson (DJF 226 L), Sonny (NDS 5553), The Old Man (BBR 1154) a massive heavy boned ram with a lot of volume, Big-Un (PVR 125) an inbred son of SBR Old Man, Frontier (SWP 06-204), Timber (HLB 1517), Nitro (HLB 1525), Turbo (COR 2004-76), and Tex (PVR 128).

MABATO aka Rocky, RR
We use Genotype testing (Codon 171); our rams test positive RR. As a whole, we only raise and sell QR, but primarily RR tested and papered stock.
About us:
We are a small operation, we're not trying to be the biggest, we're attempting, by God's grace, to be the best. We maintain a closed flock, to prevent disease. Participate in the National Scrapie Eradication Program. USDA ear tag, Codon 171 test "all" stock. Vaccinate regularly. Additionally we are striving toward an all black hoofed flock, as they are harder and less prone to hoof rot. Our lambing's occur more often than not in March to early April yearly. We don't strive for two lambing per year.

Our 2016 lambing season produced the following:
Eve Lambs: 8.125 lb. birth average, 26.25 lb. 30 day weight, an average of 18.125 lb. weight gain.
Ram Lambs: 10.00 lb. birth average, 27 lb. 30 day weight, an average of 17 lb. weight gain.

Member Katahdin Hair Sheep International
Our foundational stock were initially St Croix ewes, breed to select registered RR tested Katahdin rams with impressive genetics and pedigree. Why, you may ask, did we select St Croix ewes for our initial stock? Due in part to much repetitive inbreeding within the Katahdin genetic pool. We decided to step outside the box, if you will, invest the time, and conduct out-breeding enhancement, to improve and increase biological quality in a hybris offspring, working up through generational percentages to a recognized KHSI Certified Registered Katahdin. Are we a big scale operation, no, by no means, but everyone that has ever purchased from us has stated, "these are some of the best and healthiest sheep I've ever seen." Now that speaks volumes.

Additionally, our selection of St Croix was due to it's use within the original Katahdin breed. Having the following qualities prevalent within the breed:
- Highest Parasite Resistance
- High Lambing Percentages
- Hoof Rot Resistance
- Fly Strike Resistance
- Non-Selective Grazers
- Heat and Cold Tolerance

Our quality flock is built on exceptional champion bloodline and well managed with production records.
